In US news and current events today, Senator Kamala Harris took to the U.S. Senate podium to speak on the police killing of George Floyd and the subsequent Black Lives Matter protests that have erupted across the globe. The Black Lives Matter protest movement has gained considerable steam, as the George Floyd protests have sparked an often violent response from police.

The tension came to a head when President Donald Trump and Attorney General Bill Barr ordered a crowd of peaceful protesters dispersed with gas and force in order for President Trump to take a photo op holding a bible. Senator Harris condemned the President for this action and blasted him for never being able to say the simple phrase "Black Lives Matter."
