Adani Group's Vizhinjam Port Welcomes 1st Mothership, Puts India In World League

Adani Group's Vizhinjam Port, India's first trans-shipment port near Kovalam Beach in Kerala, received its first mothership. 'San Fernando', a vessel of the world's second-largest shipping company Maersk, arrived at the port country with over 2,000 containers on it, thus creating history.

This is a Kerala State Port. This port was started construction in 2015 when UDF chief minister ummen chandy signed an agreement with ADANI Group. If you are asking about about investment 60% of the total investment is done by ADANI group, 31% of the total is done by Kerala Government, and 9 % is invested by central government.After completion first 15 years all the profit is taken by ADANI. After 15 years they gave 1% of the profit and for each year they increase 1% each and after 25 years the port should be fully handover to state government. Through this port central government gets 2500 crore profit each year.

It was once a world famous port before it was constantly attacked and destroyed by the Pandyas & Cholas of Tamil Nadu kingdom. Many ships from many foreign countries like China, Rome and Arabian countries came to this port for trade. Black pepper, which was found only in Kerala, was in great demand and attracted more foreign traders. The Periplus of the Erythraean sea, a Greek travelogue written in the 1st century AD, mentions the port of Vizhinjam. It is also recorded in the Peutinger table. It is certain that the new Vizhinjam port will bring great progress to India.❤️
