Geoffrey Arnold Beck (24 June 1944 – 10 January 2023) was an English guitarist. He rose to prominence as a member of the rock band the Yardbirds, and afterwards founded and fronted the Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice. In 1975, he switched to an instrumental style with focus on an innovative sound, and his releases spanned genres and styles ranging from blues rock, hard rock, jazz fusion and a blend of guitar-rock and electronica.

ABOUT
In the mid-seventies guitarist Jeff Beck released Blow by Blow and Wired, two albums that are considered the best and most successful instrumental fusion albums ever. But also before and after these milestones this master guitarist had – and still has – a striking career. We first learned about the now 61-year-old Beck back in the beginning of the sixties, when he replaced Eric Clapton in The Yardbirds. A few years later he started his Jeff Beck Group, featuring a/o Rod Stewart and Ron Wood, and he laid out the fundaments of a style that, later, was to be called heavy metal. The fact that Beck often interrupted his career in the following years has everything to do with his adoration for fast cars. He loves being in the garage under a Corvette just as much as being in the studio or on stage with a guitar. And it’s on stage where he manages to draw the strangest sounds from his instrument and usually he does that with out any sound processing pedals. He once said in an interview: “I love it when people come and listen to my music and can’t seem to figure out which instrument I am playing.” Jeff Beck is definitely one of the big names of the impressive fusion program North Sea Jazz presents this year. Drummer Vinnie Colaiuta is a musician with the same reputation. He can be heard on the albums of Sting, Zappa and Joni Mitchell and he sets an example for many drummers.

It's obvious no matter what the song it's Jeff and that's awesome. Miss you Jeff RIP.

This is a rare performance of "Two Rivers" from the Guitar Shop album which Jeff rarely performed live. Unfortunately the editor of the concert footage thought this was a good time to show random audience members doing nothing of interest instead of showing a close-up of Jeff's hands, which would have been a real delight for those who don't know how amazing this performance is, with Jeff hitting harmonics and manipulating them using the tremolo bar. A rare opportunity missed by the editor, what a shame. Then, Jeff plays People Get Ready.

For people that don't play the guitar you have no idea what he's doing with that instrument. It's not a guitar, it's an appendage that's directly connected to his brain and heart. RIP Jeff Beck❤❤

If you've ever been near a guitar, you will realise how insanely difficult it is to pull off what Jeff does. It's a big bag of tricks, all thrown together, all tricky, some very, but he never plays a bum note, it never goes wrong and above all his perfection, he glues it all together with a deep bluesey feeling.

A gente começa a ouvir uma musica qualquer tocada pelo Jeff Beck e simplesmente não consegue desgrudar os ouvidos até a ultima nota. Simplesmente genial, foi um dos maiores (para mim um dos top 3) de todos os tempos.

He plays the very beautiful “Two rivers” (composed by himself) before “People get ready”. Jeff was genius.
