I’ve been disabled since shortly after birth and started using a wheelchair full-time at 7 years old. By God’s grace, I was a lawyer for 7 years. I’m now a judge presiding over education cases involving kids with disabilities.

Employment for people with disabilities is a crucial topic. Thanks for bringing awareness!

Hearing that Cole gave up his dreams of being a pharmacologist sincerely made me cry real tears. 😢

I am considerably older than any of you, but when I went looking for a job, I never got an interview, until I didn't put my disability down on the paper application but I did tell them during the interview process, they admitted that they would not have called me to interview for the position if they had known about my disability, I was hired, despite my disability, and I did the job requirements. Just like anyone else.

Y'all are so cute 😂 so happy to be a part of this disability community. I work from home at a nonprofit that's focused on access to reproductive health care. Thankful for remote work as it allows me to work full-time.

This is Amazing!! My son is 27 with Autism. I find myself sometimes babying him even tho he’s self sufficient and smart! As his mom I can’t help it. So I’m passing the phone to try not to worry so much because I know he’ll be just fine!!😊

It was difficult to find an employer that would take the chance regardless of the disability, but I've now been with my employer for 17 years. Looking back, I would've taken bigger risks to do more but when you have to survive, I went with what worked.
Don't let your disability stop you from putting yourself out there and doing what you enjoy.

Yes! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been treated like I was a little kid or someone who couldn’t understand or hear what one was saying to me. I’ve had so many job interviews where I’ve shared what my disabilities are and the whole demeanor changes and I got shown the way out. If I hide my disabilities, I’m treated much differently. It’s like people think being disabled is some awful curse and they want to run the other way. Even in relationships, I’ve been treated as if I was less of a person or someone who was mentally unstable. Same happens in a doctor’s office. They talk to my family instead of me directly.

Love you all. Just a little about me. I was one the very first people to bring a disability employment discrimination case to Federal Court. It was with the help of the Americans with Disabilities Act. I win my ADA case in Federal Court but Wells Fargo spent a lot of money and in Federal Appeals Court they took away the verdict of the jury of people who heard my case. I admire y'all! 🇺🇸❤🍁🇨🇦

I worked 23 years ago having a speech impairment and having cerebral palsy as a telemarketer part-time and soon after was a youth aid for an after-school program. I had quit after 9 months because I was about to become a Mom. I just started a seasonal job last year, and I love it. I work for my local minor league baseball team store.

You are right I love you guys this post I am disabled myself I walk with a bullet in my ankle I am retired register LVN I am disabled myself but when you do good in the world you still get criticized so you have to keep pushing on no matter what people say about your disability you have to push on for greater and better things God bless both of you and have a great day
