I can see their rationale: " we have someone we can work with, let's keep him. We might get one of those crazy ideologs otherwise. " It's a valid concern and position.

I understand getting along. Just not going along.

These educated adults seem to lack a basic understanding of economics and politics… it is concerning and really speaks to deeper problems in our society. Saying something confidently doesn’t make it true.

It's a fair assessment to claim that politics often blinds us to broader possibilities. Indeed, with all its idiosyncrasies, our political system ultimately hinges on power dynamics. Party loyalty crushes pragmatism, which has left us in a state of affairs that feels more like a WWF spectacle than service to the citizenry. The Dems' assistance towards McCarthy's speakership might appear paradoxical, yet it signifies the brutal reality of the political arena rife with strategic alliances and tactical maneuvers.
However, these maneuvers often provide us with opportunities hidden amidst the folds of typical political discourse. Perhaps this unusual partnership could serve as a wake-up call, a reminder that the foundational goal of these positions isn't the accumulation of power or propagation of partisan dogmas but service to the people. The Democrats' move here, albeit surprising, might open up room for new dialogue - a chance to put aside partisan banners and work towards a healthier, more effective democracy.
This unexpected alliance might be the spark needed to ignite meaningful change in a world where governance has become more of a political seesaw than a functioning system. Maybe this is precisely the shock to the system we need to do better.

Maybe the dems are smarter than you think.... their move might actually be a wise move.

I dont like McCarthy as long as he is a trump supporter. But if he is doing what all law makers are supoose to do (compromise) i can tolerate him.

Makes sense to me. McCarthy is a marshmallow that's easy to push around. Any other Republican could easily be a nutcase who won't do anything reasonable to save his life.

In a perfect world we could all call our credit card companies and raise our debt limit. Then we could add it to everyone around us to pay for.
