I'm somewhere between a libertarian and a conservative yet for the most part I loathe the Republican party. Most of my family is Republican leaning independents, a few are Republicans. Those few can not criticize the Bushes. They aren't complete Bushites, but they are also blind to his horribleness. They realize the Middle East was a bad move, but they say that even though he was wrong he at least loves America. I showed them the clip of him at the press corp dinner making jokes about invading Iraq (his where are the weapons of mass destruction bit). They haven't really defended him since.

The common Confederate-Ukraine thread, I would think (I'm just brainstorming here), for some people is resistance to an unjust invasion. Not that unfathomable, is it?

I have a question, what's more doable at the current time, pushing for secession and getting some sort of loose confederacy between the areas that seceded to hopefully have enough cooperation to defend what was created? or to start making Hoppean covenant communities, some of which may be no bigger than a neighborhood but hopefully get so many of them in a given area that we start having enough power to completely change county politics and eventually even state politics or at least get the state and federal government to leave us alone for the most part?
