SO TRUE. Crochet, after a first miserable week of learning, i got the hang of it and thought it was really easy. Knitting still feels like complicated magic lol

Loving that you are watching Hannah while crocheting, literally me always

I’m the opposite. I mess up crochet so often, but knit I can shut my brain off and let my body take over. It’s fascinating to me how our bodies process motor information differently 💚

For all the people who started knitting and want to crochet, here's a huge tip.

Knitting- you are always casting on

Crocheting- you are always casting off.

I hope this helps. It took me 4 months of hard work to understand how to crochet.

Knitting will always feel like some sort of dark magic I’ll never be able to master especially when they start throwin in little designs in the work

For me it’s the Opposite, I knit without looking but if I don’t look at my crochet then I mess up so much

I'm the opposite 😂 I'm trying to learn crochet after learning knitting and knitting was much easier for me to grasp for some reason

That is why I learned knitting first and then crochet so knitting also seems easy

Here are some tips:
First, try 'continental' style. That way you are holding the yarn in the same finger as if you are crocheting, and instead of the fabric you hold a needle, while the dominant hand also holds a needle.
Second, try to hold the knitting needle in your dominant hand the same way as you hold your crochet hook.
That might be a bit challenging, cause you are holding the hook with the 'pen' grip, while the knitting needle is most commonly held with the 'knife' grip, but there's nothing wrong with switching.
Also, you might want to experiment with the yarn tension, for example by wrapping the yarn around the index finger again and/or let the yarn exit between your little and ring finger away from you.

Also, the first row in knitting (after the cast on) is always the hardest. Mostly cause the stitches tighten up, which can be adjusted by changing the cast-on type or holding 2 knitting needles together to cast on (and then remove one), making the cast on super loose, which will tighten into shape after the first row.

Haha! I am the complete opposite. I spent a year feverishly learning to knit and could just make up patterns and could just easily go for hours (disuse made me forget most of it now)

Just picked up crochet and i feel like i have to put 1000 of my focus into it.

I believe in you! Keep going and youll make beautiful knitwear in no time!

This is interesting to me as a knitter who recently learned crochet. I hold my hook more like a knitting needle! I get cramps if I hold it the way you do
