Z temnoty vychází i protagonista, který jako samozvaný ochránce zákona své stinné stránky nepotlačuje, ale využívá v boji proti zlu. Nolanova schopnost plně pohltit diváka příběhem stojí na režisérově precizní a komplexní práci s audiovizualitou. Zlověstně dunivá hudba Hanse Zimmera sugestivně koresponduje s dynamickou kamerou Wally Pfistera, která zachycuje opulentní výbuchy a honičky stejně efektně, jako mimické nuance ve tvářích neuvěřitelně silného hereckého ansámblu.
