You need a full set of pitches, with a single tool tip you can actually make any pitch you need

The thread mills we use can also mill the hole diameter, not that we do but it is nice if the drill depth isn’t quite correct the thread mill will keep on going and cut deeper.

Love the thread mill, hate when an error creeps in manual g-code for them. One character wrong and it's a goner. Happens to all threading operations, just there is multiple times the code for each thread calculated and typed in comparison to a simple G84..🤓

When I was in NTMA school in the early 1990s I once used a tap to chase external threads on the lathe in a 15 minute dash to complete a project. I didn't have time to grind or find a single point cutter, set it up and chase the threads so, knowing that once I assembled the components they wouldn't be disassembled for inspection so all I needed was some threads on the end of a shaft but quick. My lathe was already geared for chasing and in a moment of brilliance or dumb luck I got the bright idea to slap a tap in an offset tool holder and in a few cranks of the compound slide I had functional threads.
Lo and behold it worked and I've always wondered why multiple point threading cutters weren't a thing. Well, apparently they are now!
There's some amazing tooling out there now I see. Kinda wish I was still in the field.
