Israeli fighter jets have bombed a convoy on the Syria-Lebanon border that they suspected was transporting Russian-made surface-to-air missiles to Hezbollah.

Reuters quoted one Western diplomat saying, "The target was a truck loaded with weapons, heading from Syria to Lebanon." Western diplomats believe the convoy may have been carrying anti-aircraft missiles or long-range rockets.

Russian-made SA-17s are medium-range surface-to-air missiles designed to take down cruise missiles, smart bombs, aircraft and drones. They have an engagement range of 3km to 50km and an engagement altitude of 25,000 meters.
