Hopefully Panasonic's managed to improve sensor tech to a point that making the switch to cheaper MOS sensors from CCD is not going to result in overall loss of image quality that would've resulted say, only 2-3 years ago, to gain improved low-light & fps capability advantages. Also, they've noticeably "dumbed down" their μ4/3 line of ILC's lately to keep prices competitive, so shoving big sensors into p&s camera bodies to raise the price wouldn't have made sense for their other price points.

I do not understand the benefit of having a smaller sensor. I have read that LX7 is using "next gen" CMOS sensor so this one being smaller than LX5 sensor should not cause any worry.

Can anyone confirm that? I am not really good with camera techincalities / jargons.

Will it be worth switching from LX5 to LX7?
