One year ago I was given a creativity assignment in one of my Ancient Greek lessons at University. When I started thinking of what I could create, I remembered the incredibly unfair ancient greek law, which determined that no woman could enter the Olympic Stadium and watch the Games, and that if she did she would be killed!
I also remembered the great figure of Kallipateira, who was the only woman who had ever dared to get into the Olympic Stadium so as to admire her son, Peisirodos, competing. Of course, in order to do that she transformed herself into a man. Luckily when Kalllipateira’s real identity was revealed, she was not punished with death, as an action of respect to her family which included many great athletes, like her father Diagoras.
After remembering all these, I thought of how intriguing it would be if we had a text with Kallipateira’s words and overall prespective on how and why all these events happened. How did she decide to do what she did? And... if she had to defend herself and her actions in court in the imaginary senario that she would have had to undergo a trial in which her punishment would be determined, what would she say and what arguments would she list to prove she did the right thing?
Keeping these questions into my mind, I wrote Kallipateira’s juridical speech, which you can listen and watch in the following video:
I am very excited to finally be able to share this with you and I would be happy to read/listen to your comments. Feel free to share the video and subscribe to my youtube channel. 
Last but not least, a big thank you to Prima Vista Records for helping me bring the wonderful Kalipateira to life, the way I had dreamt it.
And a big thank you to my professeur Dr Maria Pavlou who supported my idea from the very first moment and supervised the whole process of writing the script.
Underneath I leave the introduction to the speech in greek, the way it was written in my assignment:
Αν όμως η Καλλιπάτειρα έπρεπε στο πλαίσιο μίας δίκης, να δώσει λόγο για την πράξη της, πώς θα δομούσε άραγε τον λόγο της, ποιά επιχειρήματα θα εξέθετε και πώς θα προσπαθούσε αυτή η σπουδαία γυναίκα να υπερασπιστεί τον εαυτό της;
