What is Autism?

Показать описание
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication. The term Autism is in the umbrella of autism spectrum disorders or we can just refer to that as ASD. There is not one single type of autism but many different kinds. According to the CDC, about 1 in 54 children has been identified with ASD. ASD has several conditions that used to be diagnosed separately which include: autistic disorder, pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS), and Asperger syndrome

There is a very important point that I think you forgot: the characteristics you mention are present on the childhood. When boy rises he can learn how to deal with this things and the problems are different. Most of the therapists are focused on children, not adults

Suggestion: You probably know this, but if you add hashtags to this video (and any others) - there are a LOT of people that search out the ASD and ADHD/ADD and similar topics and the tags will help it show up for more people.
Also, you could do a deeper dive into this topic in future videos. There are several channels dedicated to this topic, but most of them are from the personal perspective rather than clinical, so there's definitely room for this type of content. You could go into the different levels (currently listed as 1, 2, and 3 in the DSM-5) and how each one presents and more on the comorbidities.
Lastly, there are a LOT of adults out there that are on the spectrum and/or have comorbid conditions, but because testing revolved around mostly young males, they fell through the cracks and are discovering or suspecting they are on the spectrum much later in life.
Good luck with your channel!

This video is very good but it’s very off putting that you are clearly reading from a script. If it wasn’t so obvious think it would really improve the quality

If anyone wants to get a personal account on Autism I recommend Kyle Hill's video, "Autism is my superpower"

3:43 ABA therapy is not a real help as ASD is not a behavioral disorder, it just tries to convert ASD children to seem neurotypical and this is not ok, and it came from same person who contributed to gay conversion therapy...
