The MIDI blocks are a great tip if your DAW doesn't have an arrangement track, very handy!

Excellent video as always!

For me a template is a must. It took a bit of trial and error to find exactly what works for me, but it saves so much time and allows you to get creating right away. I also make sure to have the MIDI tracks (I mainly stick to VSTs) colour-coded by sound type (drums, bass, lead etc.) so it's easy to navigate through projects. Even having them ordered in the same way across projects makes it so easy to jump into an old arrangement and immediately feel at home.

Related to the arrangement blocking out point, one thing I like to do when not feeling terribly productive is find a track I enjoy. Drag it into the DAW and block out its arrangement and use that as a starting point for my track. Definitely helps to kickstart the creative process for me! Even if it's just as simple as deciding on what types of sounds will be present in the intro, or what elements are added in the verse/chorus etc.

On a tangental note, I spotted you've got Arturia's Dimension D. Normally I'm a huge fan of all of Arturia's products, but that one seemed a bit too subtle to me (I've not used the original Roland/Boss units so not sure if they're also so subtle). I've been using Valhalla's UberMod for some of those (arguably quite over the top!) 80s-style chorus guitar tones.
