I never noticed before but that is really brilliant that he can make the unfamiliar diction and language sound so believable and real. Most other movies get bogged down with the old-style English and it just sounds laboured and artificial, but with Downton Abbey it always sounds like actual people speaking to each other to the degree that you don't even notice their old-school vocabulary. I've a feeling that that's a hard balance to achieve.

He is one of my favorite writers and inspirations (hands down). My favorite movie is the Young Victoria and my favorite TV show is Downton Abbey. I love how Julian gives us a world that feels so real and we fall in love with the characters (more than our own friends). Overall I enjoy his work, I'm currently reading the script book from Downton and I'm taking a screenwriting course, I hope one day I could write something that people will love too.

He is an amazing writer, a genius.  "Downton Abbey" is one the greatest shows on television.

A talented writer to a certain extent but it must be remembered that he completely plagiarized the rose competition episode from Mrs Miniver. Shameful.
