In this lesson, you’ll learn the basics of the Swift programming language starting with variables, constants and data types. These will form the building blocks for learning Swift programming!

This video series will teach a beginner with no programming experience how to make iPhone apps. I'm creating these videos with the assumption that the student has no prior knowledge and is starting from scratch.

I have been teaching programming for nearly 30 years. The first languages that I learned were Fortran and BASIC. You are an excellent teacher. I am enjoying being a student for a change. Plan to create some awesome apps and teach to my students.

Hey Chris, Thanks for a good intro to Swift. I'm a software engineer primarily working with Angular and currently doing your 28 day challenge for iOS Development on my own time. It's an awesome course and I really enjoy it.

First time coding since Fortran and COBOL a long time ago! Managed many IT projects, but want to build a solution myself. You are a good educator. Not sure how deep your classes go, but they are just what I need now. Great stuff.

Thank you for these videos. Your method of teaching makes more sense to me than a few other youtubers out there with coding videos.

If you want more on the swift language btw, he has a 19 part series on that, which goes into much more detail

LOL! I have a very basic understanding of programming but I'm loving your videos. I learned the wonderful DEAD language of Pascal when I was in High School. It is at least a foundation to build on. I love how clearly you speak and show every step without skipping around. I haven't been interested in coding in a good 20 years, but you have made me excited to give it another try! Thanks for that!

I played through the entire "Learn to code 1, 2, and 3" and then when I went to try and build anything on my own, I couldn't. So I turned to this series. While I'm hearing some stuff I already know, this has been super helpful for me. Thanks!

Hey Chris! I learned ActionScript 2 yonks ago so this tutorial feels pretty familiar but it's good to realise you still know some of the basics. Keen to finish this course.

Hey Chris I’m on Day5, it’s slightly challenging as it is new information for me. But I’m enjoying the course so far. Thank you

Hey Chris. Nice Videos. This is not my first foray into programming, I've worked with VB, C#, Javascript and COBOL (in the early days!). But it's been about 20 years, so I feel like I'm getting a nice refresher course on the basics.

I can't believe you give this stuff away for free Chris. I've paid for courses on Udemy that were not this good and clear for total beginners.

first off I wnt to say that I really appreciate you putting these lessons on youtube, thank you.
Secondly: thanks for starting off with the very simple stuff in the beginning.
Thirdly: You successfully lulled me into a false-sense of understanding.
Finally: ouch.

So, considering you're fully aware that this is a video meant for beginners I'd like to make a request; next time you go to up the difficulty, feel free to do so but lets slow down with the speed you're typing. Personally I'd suggest the same lesson but perhaps try saving decimals until after we see what it looks like when you add whole numbers to letters thus changing data type.
As a person very much not involved in the tech world a large part of what I find so intimidating are the unending lines with seemingly no logic (ironic its based 100% on logic). You can be certain however that I will be adding plenty of notes to my lines of code. That was probably the most helpful bit of information I got out of my first run-through of this video.

Back to learning to code!

Stay Passionate!
