Pokémon Character Sprite Drawing Tutorial

A quick overview of the process I use to draw character sprites for Pokémon Essentials. I didn't want to turn this into a tutorial on how to use my go-to drawing program, so if you want to use that program I'd recommend looking up a tutorial, or if there's enough interest I can create one. Sorry if the editing is a little jumpy.

Another thing I wanted to add is that it also looks more polished if you tone down the saturation in the artwork a bit. So if you want to use red, don't use straight red like I did in the video (I was just trying to go quick), make it a slightly darker, more desaturated color (like I did in the thumbnail, or the sprite I show off at the end). If enough people find this video helpful, I can make more videos on trainer sprites, tile sets, or creating custom Pokémon or custom shiny sprites (pallet swaps). I wouldn't really call myself an artist, but I think these sprites are decent enough to give your game that nice custom feel.

Let me know in the comments if there's anything you have questions on, or if you'd like to see another video from me.

Great video! I would love to see other videos on battle sprites, tilesets, more advanced stuff or also gen 4 overworld characters if that would be possible. I would also love a tutorial for making back sprites for Pokemon/trainers, woul be awesome! :)

I know this is 4 years old, but I use paint 3D when making sprites, and this made me wonder if I can do the resizing image with paint 3d, I found out that yes I can. I know you contriuted nothing but what I found out is a life saver because you don't know how many times I had to redo the same pixel just because I kept doing a 2x2 pixel size.
