Tried that once with my Rockler Shark, nothing but problems on big cuts(deep) - which I make more of. I built a cabinet with an acrylic front door to house the CNC, then used an air mover and piped fresh air into the router and on the steppers. The cabinet has a filtered outlet for venting the warm air generated by the machine outside. As far as clean up goes, just vacuum it out after each cut. The Router gets fresh air so you don't have to worry about dust in it, and the CNC steppers get cool air so they stay cool. I think I spent about 50 bucks for the air mover and used about 8 feet of 2.5" flexible dust collection hose...so it comes out to about the same price as the boot.

Dan that thing made a huge difference. Also it made a way better cut. I still remember the first time you got one of those it was to long so you were thinking about cutting it. But instead you ordered a new one that was sorter. Great video Tia!!!

Cant wait till I can afford a X-carve. Do I really need one probably not but probably don't need half the tools I have lol But you can never have to many tools. That's why TIA is the best tool channel on YouTube.TIA crew

thank for the tip on the dust boot. I just finished my X-carve and ran my first test. Love this thing . Anyway what caught my eye was the perfect position that you X drag chain is sitting at. My drag chain when moving toward the left rail sags below the the X rail any thoughts.

This is one those videos you kept saying you have to post for a while now. I remember you Periscoped when this came in a while back.

Do you guys have a preference: 2" or 3" brush ring?

I'm still on the fence as far as purchasing an X-Carve goes.  There are so many things that I could do with it.  Just can't seem to be able to convince myself.  I have a feeling that my bank account may shrink a bit if I keep watching X-Carve videos.

Cutting chunks off your router ???
Meh, didn't want the warranty anyway ! Lol

Now you gotta build a plexiglass case to house the entire CNC machine. That will cut down on the noise and give you zero dust outside.

You should make a port in the back wall by the door and put the vacuum in the other room, it'll save your hearing quite a bit to have the vac remotely located...
