Alot of people will not read commentary and Spurgeon has in one of his sermons I cant remember which one but he goes on about how can a man be so full of himself to say I will not believe anything unless God himself shows me through the word.
Use discernment commentary can help alot. God has shown other men things they want others to know. reading another's commentary is like a form of fellowship I think sharing truths and thoughts on scriptures it can help, and does help.

Thank you for this! You can find the commentary notes for the ESV and Reformation online but not the rest of the Bible which is what you showed us. I’m getting an ESV Study Bible for sure!

Excellent Video. I have both but tend to use the ESV Study Bible more often. I personally prefer to read the KJV, but that's just because I was raised with it. I have ESV and NKJV and NASB Bibles, but when I read several chapters at a time, its the KJV that I use. I use all these translations for Bible study. Personal taste leads be to use the Reformation Heritage Study Bible by Joel Beeke.

As a sunday school teacher, i attempt to "stand on the shoulders of giants" and i want to rightly divide the word of GOD. I buy study bibles to get those resources beyond our theologically thin sunday school lesson materials. I even have the apocryphal books. I use them to prove where they disagree with scripture. The ESV STUDY BIBLE has more words of man than of God. That is the nature of a theologian library. We are blessed to have what we have after brilliant men dedicated their whole lives to reading the scriptures. Thanks for this review.

Thank you for your comparison! I'm a newby to reformed theology... when I first came to Christ a few years ago I was drawn into the charismatic theology but now I realize, oh man, I need some solid biblical theology. Praise God for that realization. So... my question is this: would you recommend one study bible over the other for a newby? I just can't decide! Thanks again! God bless!
