What is the difference between Layer OFF and Layer Freeze in AutoCAD?

Layer is the base on which objects are created and layers are used to control the visibility of objects.

You can Turn Layers On or Off and Freeze or Thaw Layers in Layer Properties Manager.

Both methods are control the visibility of drawing objects, but the Freeze layer will be helpful for performance improvements.

When the Layer is Turned OFF, the objects will become invisible and selectable for various operations hence increase memory consumption.

When the Layer is Frozen, the objects will become invisible and unselectable for various operations hence decrease memory consumption.

Freeze layers helps to improve object selection performance and reduce regeneration time of drawings.
