Latin America is a crucial region in the global fight against climate change. Forests in the Amazon basin absorb 4% of global carbon emissions annually, but deforestation is a large threat. Latin America has 16% of the world’s land but is home to 40% of global biological diversity. The oceans in the region attract investment in climate action strategies linked with the “blue economy.”

In this SOCAP23 session, learn how impact investing can be leveraged to fund conservation efforts, climate resilience, and climate innovation in Latin America from the perspective of entrepreneurial ecosystem builders, impact investors, and asset owners. Hear firsthand how impact investors are approaching the work in this region and how their work can be replicated in other areas of the world.

Speakers:
Natalie Vergara | Mercy Corps Ventures (Moderator)
Andres Baehr | Saria Ventures
Lia Gonzales | Incofin IM
Maricel Saenz | Minus: A Compound Foods Company
