The aerial cinema experts at Teton Gravity Research release the first ultra HD footage of the Himalayas shot from above 20,000 ft. with the GSS C520 system, the most advanced gyro-stabilized camera system in the world. Filmed from a helicopter with a crew flying from Kathmandu at 4,600 ft. up to 24,000 ft. on supplemental oxygen, these are some of the most stable, crisp, clear aerial shots of these mountains ever released, which include Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse.

Absolutely breathtaking photography and such hauntingly beautiful music to go with it. The Himalayas is among the most spectacular mountain ranges in the world. It is good to see so much pride among the Nepalis for Mt. Everest. But, they need to do more than just being proud. Campers are creating havoc to the mountain by leaving tons of their trash behind and that, too, at great heights. As an Indian, I am proud to say that the Indian Army have removed trash from a height of 19, 000 feet. The Nepali Government no doubt must be doing their bit, but needs to do a lot more. It hurts that a beautiful peak such as Mt. Everest is at times called the highest junkyard in the world.

I'll never climb Mt. Everest but if I saw it from a few mountains away like these guys did, I would be just as ecstatic.

1:16 I flew from Lhasa, Tibet to Kathmandu, Nepal.
The flight attendant said Everest was on the right.
(1) I wasn't sure which peak was Everest.
(2) I realized that it wasn't a lone mountain (like Mauna Kea or Mt Fuji)
but one of a series of peaks within a range.
Lhotse & Everest might've been part of one taller peak that had eroded away.

I am an ardent fan of Sagarmatha(Mt Everest) since last 35 years, when I red a book of Ken Barrington, who climbed it from Western Face _it is almost a vertical climb, he and his team climbed in 1975, and in his second attempt, he failed and died owing to avalanche. This was the story of my fascinating to Mt. Everest. Astonished to watch the peak even from the 120 km distance at 86.5 longitude from Bihar (India). I will tell some other facts in another post.

I like the background music.Himalaya has a great impact on our Indian culture, from the ancient time it protects us from invasion by chinese. It also has great importance on our climate, it protects us from siberian wind. And most importantly our spirituality has greatly influenced by Himalayan mountain. Even today many Buddhist and Shaivites are going to mountain to attain nirvana. Himalaya represents beauty of Indic culture. Thank you, Om shanti.

A breathtaking place. Remembered every ache and pain and thrill of being in the mountains on the EBC route way back in 2004.
