LA community destroyed after historic wildfires

The largest fire, stretching from Pacific Palisades, west of Santa Monica, to Malibu, it was approaching 20,000 acres on Thursday night. It has damaged or destroyed an estimated 5,300 structures. Now 6 per cent contained.

The Los Angeles County chief medical examiner said it could take weeks to identify the remains of those killed in the two major wildfires, Palisades and Eaton.

Dr Odey Ukpo said medical teams would have to use dental records and DNA to discover who the victims were, which could slow down the grim process.

Most victims are, “for lack of a better word, charred”, Ukpo told the Los Angeles Times. Because of that, medics would not be able to use fingerprints or facial features for identification.

So far, the death toll stands at ten, but officials have warned this will increase.

America has no experience in extinguishing fires? But it has great and long experience in starting fires in countries around the world

Continue building houses out of wood and plasterboard.... It's incredible. I had imagined at least the expensive houses would be built out of stone, brick, even concrete!

There are five wildfires happening at the SAME TIME. No doubt arson is involved

What's really "historic" about this disaster is the level of stupidity at all levels of the LA electorate.

Who ever thought building a city mainly of wooden buildings that fire would not have been a problem, I suppose Fire of London taught the UK that lesson.

Trump says Gaza will be hell. Then hell will come to America first. This is real karma.

Is that guy seriously trying to blame first responders for not saving his neighborhood? Does he have any clue as to the scope of the fires just in his community, never mind the rest of the county? No community fire department -- no matter how big or how well-funded -- is equipped to handle the kind of disaster unfolding in Los Angeles. "A squirt here, a quirt there, " -- are you kidding me? He may have seen it with his "own eyes, " but he clearly had no idea what he was looking at.

And if your houses wasn't made out of shitty plasterboards and wood and actually use brick and concrete, there may have been a chance alot of your home would be standing
