I use that to predict where tree shadow should be cast the next morning when I'm on a bike trip and I set up my tent. I don't like being warmed up by the sun hitting my tent in the morning. 🙂

Calibration with your finger to line up accurately the predicted sun with its actual location is fine when the sun has risen but what happens if there is a difference before the sun rises and after you have gone through a calibration process? I had this recently before a sunrise and you see that there was going to be an error....
