Sony Faces Backlash For This Change On PSN. | Microsoft Explains Their Next PS5 Game. - [LTPS #636]

This week we have Gamescom 2024 going on, and we had a lot of announcements from Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live show. Plenty of PS5 and PS4 games were shown off, including one from Microsoft! Phil Spencer is back on the soapbox explaining the companies decisions with their newest PS5 game, so we go over that. And elsewhere through the week we have news for Astro bot, Concord, Silent Hill 2, and Black Myth Wukong's performance on PS5. That, aaaand Sony is making questionable changes to PS Stars which is not going over well. AKA big company takes away more from the little guy. Where have I heard that before? The answer is everywhere. Literally everwhere. Everything. All at once.

Sony and Microsoft making great arguments for not renewing these subscriptions. I tend to buy single player games physically and when they’ve discounted. When I add up what I’d spend on the games I actually want to play, it’s way less than annual subscription costs.

Expiring points makes sense from a business perspective but from a user perspective it creates unnecessary FOMO and turns me off immediately

A 3 month delay for the PS5 version of Indiana Jones: and the Circle is really a blessing in disguise. When has any recent AAA game not benefited from three months of fix patches and new features which weren't ready at launch?!

This isn't the first time Phil couldn't keep a secret. When Xbox had the timed exclusive deal with Tomb Raider. Phil spoiled it's coming PlayStation one year later

Sony starting to remove first-party games from Plus, actually makes playing games for gamers in third world countries like me, a much more expensive hubby. This is a sad day

Unfortunately for us, especially in this economy, all these companies are cost-cutting like crazy and making products/services worse. I’m glad I didn’t invest time in PS Stars points.

Sony really digging themselves into a hole with ps stars. The fact that they are getting greedy with stars and forcing players to spend money on the store while Microsoft rewards the users with miscellaneous tasks that the user can redeem for subscription services, gift cards and games. Sony needs to take notes on this from Microsoft.

Sony just confirmed a theory. They saw Horizon sell really well...but when it arrived at playstation plus the sales dropped drastically....and it is a Playstation first party game they would earn a lot more money selling it then putting it in a subscription service... I think that Sony will not let any of their first party games indefitely on PS plus.... it is simply not profitable...
