Welcome to my “Sunday Night Stay-at-Homebodies Open Mike Set #35”.

I post youtube video sets (usually three songs) on Sunday nights around 8pm PST USA and share them to my facebook timeline as well. With these posts comes a standing invitation to singer-songwriters and spoken word artists to share a recent video of some of your own stuff (covers are fine too) in the comments below my posts, as well as a promise that if you post your stuff on the same night I post mine, I will do my best to watch and comment. My Sunday nights are reserved for listening to music, preferably of the homespun variety.

Cool, I've not heard many covers from you, but your John Prine and Van Morrison covers were outstanding. Your certainly have the performance chops for both of them. Love "There is Only You" too, clever lyrics, Gene, especially 'You're the sizzle in my bacon.' Now that's good writin'. "Look Nowhere" was awesome too. :) Janet

“There Is Only You”: That's a great use of major and minor chords - it sets up a great sense of "tension" that makes the awesome lyrics punch. Great stuff.
"Crazy Love": Beautiful version. I particularly enjoyed your vocal variation - you made it your own.
"Crazy As A Loon": John Prine would be proud mate.You're a master of acoustic rhythm - an angelic chime to augment what is a great song.
“Look Nowhere": That's a beautiful ballad mate - up there with your best. I was pleasantly surprised by the juxtaposition of "theatre" and "crowded fire" - awesome! The little finish was gorgeous. (As an aside, I would have sung through the "frog" in the throat - I think that kind of thing adds to a performance - I think it gives the voice an earthy reality even if it gets all choked up!)
