Would you put sunscreen on your tongue?

Giraffes do… kind of. Let’s agree, their tongues are just weird and this happens because of 3 reasons:

They’re weirdly long. This plus a long neck is what they need to reach their favourite snack, acacia trees.
They’re though. Acacia trees have thorns, so being tough and having a thick saliva help for protection.
They have this weird colour. The reason: sun protection. The most spread theory is that they have these colour thanks to a dark "melanin" colour pigment that gives them extra UV protection. This is useful because they feed up high, so this protects their tongues from getting sunburnt.
