Very true squads can slow down aging....but that goes for any routine exercises...im 60 and have exercises for over 45 years.... walking is number one with some resistance training...you don't have to lift heavy unless you want to...i still can because of doing it routine....i jog a lot and jog up hills.... very slow and i can honestly say my health is still very good...no medications...

I'm 74 and started squats recently. I have a knee problem, but my knee likes the squats and my knee likes my recumbent exercise bike. My aging biological machine made me give up tobacco and alcohol many years ago, and now I restrict my sugar addiction, which 100% of the population has. I never stop experimenting and have a mixed bag of successes and failures. Essentially, everything teaches, and that is the point of life. Thanks to DNA being quantum and having great memory, I can take what I learn to the grave and build on it in my next incarnation. I'm neither an old soul nor a young one, but midmost in my third-dimensional experience. Perhaps failure is the best teacher. Cheers.

Thanks for this. I have been doing squats after seeing my mother in a wheelchair barely able to move without assistance. I dont want to be like her if I can help it. So I do squats almost everyday.

We all die irrespective of how much you exercise during your life and looking at these young people exercising won’t make any difference. Keep moving for as long as you can but there comes a time when you cannot so don’t make people feel as though they’re failures as they have enough to contend with at this time of life.

Warm-up should be recommended for all exercises, especially deep squats. Don't push beyond your limits. If not, you may end up in the surgery room.

It cracks me up to see an article of the advantage of deep squats for older adults and the videos are always of a 25 year old demonstrating the movement. Never an older adult. There is a reason older adults cannot do these squats ... they are old!

Dislocated left knee years ago very fit but deep squats are difficult. Same with torn left shoulder rotator cuff for pushups(bike accident) praise the Lord

I’ve been doing squats in pump classes 2 to 3 times a week for over 25 years. I’m still very active as a cyclist and swimmer in my mid seventies, but my knees are rooted.

If you can't balance easily while doing them use support for each arm and squat between two sturdy objects. Works for me.

I have spondylitis of the lower spine and because of it pinched nerves. It causes tingling numbness of the lower legs and overall loss of control of the legs from hips down when walking distances plus other times aching hips and buttocks.
Deep squats are the lifeline, almost instantaneous relief within 30seconds usually lasts 10-15 minutes, then I’ll squat again or sit down and lean right forward. . Literally a lifesaver. Highly recommended. 👍

Many of the squats shown in the video are not "deep". Ass-to-grass ... as low as you can go ... gives the greatest range of motion. If you are used to 90 degree bends of the knees in a squat, a deep squat feels like a whole new exercise, much harder at first. You can still develop strength.
