My wedding is JUST around the corner, and I’ve been making my Boy Choy with Garlic Sauce every single day for the past few weeks. I will be honest; I am not a big vegetable person. Growing up, I never liked vegetables; I’ve always been a carb lover. HOWEVER, every time my parents bring me to a Chinese restaurant and order vegetables, I always LOVED it. After a few tries, I now have the perfect sauce that tastes good with everything!

I tried this recipe a few days ago and i think her recipe is a hit or miss depending on your taste buds.
the sauce was extremely salty to the point i wasn’t able to finish the bok choy.

But don’t get me wrong! Looking past through the saltiness, the sauce itself tasted good.
I made it a second time but with a few alterations. When blanching the bok choy, i omitted the salt and watered down the sauce. I added about 1/4 cup of water and adjusted the consistency with corn starch. I added the blanched bok choy into a container, poured the sauce over and refrigerated it overnight. Because the bok choy is blanched, it retains a lot of water so the sauce further diluted overnight. I tried it the next day and it tasted great! The bok choy absorbed the sauce so you can bypass the slight bitter veggie taste.

It’s the oil, sesame oil is rich in protein and less fattening than butter. This recipe is very staple dish in Asian cuisine served with rice to soak in the sauce. She’s probably referring to eating healthier than eating to lose weight

I added cooked pork belly in the sauce then pour it over the bok choy, it came out so good

Looks good! I wouldn't put the sesame oil on until the last because heating it will wreck the flavor.
