I haven't read Leviathan. My favorite Paul Auster novel is The Book of Illusions. Baumgartner sounds great.

It sounds very similar to "Stoner" by John Williams, one of my favorite novels... I will have to bump it to the top of my to-read list! Thank you for the review.

I read this yesterday and I’m sad to say, I found it extremely disappointing. It’s clear that Auster didn’t live to finish it, so the reader is left suspended at the end - and not in a good way. Auster cannot write badly, but inspiration was clearly flagging at the end. Did all the work he did on 4321 and the disappointing reception it received break him, if family tragedy didn’t? (I loved 4321, btw).

Hi I was wondering if you've read anything by fredrik backman...if not you should check out his work (particularly beartown and a man called ove). I'd love to hear your thoughts about them. Cheers!
