The one downside for some for the new Canon EOS R full frame Mirrorless camera is that there is only one SD card slot.

I'm a huge Canon lover heavily invested. Deal breakers are no Bsi sensor, single card slot, non removal of the LP Filter and UHS1 technology. I think this camera is going to bring the same type of public reaction the recent Nikon ML had to endure. Although, Canon will sell a boatload of them. I really wish they would create an over the top wonder. They haven't since 2008 with the 5D II.

It looks like this model is prices significantly below the A7iii/Z6 and obviously both Nikon and Canon will keep broaden their mirrorless offering. So, Canon will probably come out with a model with higher video performance at some point.

With regards to the single versus dual card slots, I think all manufacturers know that it is more of a marketing thing than a real issue.

There are so many things that can fail and if you take care of your cards, they fail very rarely. I've seen Nikon, Canon and Sony shooters run into problems and if you do not have 100% redundancy of absolutely everything you might loose a shot.

Even Sony indirectly acknowledges this, because the second card slot is much slower. They basically tell their A9 users that if you want the fastest performance, you need to shoot with one card.

The only two cameras that I know of that has the dual card slots supporting the same speed is the D5 and Fujifilm XH-1 and I think the latter cannot record video to both.

There s no way its gonna be full pixel readout
Its not going to be 4K 10 bit 422
Theres no Log profile

10 bit 422 is impossible to write to an SD card. If it has the capability, it would only be to an external recorder as Nikon did. They also do not appear to have a log setting. Missing IBIS makes Canon the odd man out given Sony and Nikon both have it.

120fps at 720P? Lame. The dual card slot thing means nothing to video shooters as no high end camera records redundantly, and they are still limited by the half hour record limit, so there would be no point for rollover.Nikon's Z6 becomes the cheapest way to record 10 bit 422 by far. Z6 plus recorder, cables and power is about $3K, xt closest 10 bit 422 is over 10K. This Canon will appeal to vloggers with the flip screen, the rest is disappointing.

I absolutely love the Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus as well as the fully articulating LCD on my Canon 6D2. The downside of that focusing system with the 6D2 is the fact that I need to use Live Focus to obtain Dual Pixell COMS AF and I simply cannot see the LCD in bright sun well enough to shoot with it, There are no downsides to the articulating touch screen on the 6D2.
This will be a "wait and see" for me. I purchased the 6D2 too early and have always felt a bit burned by that camera.

I can't believe everyone is falling for the mirrorless hype. Absolutely nothing they are producing improves the image or increases the amount I can charge for my pictures. Its' all gimmicks, like no one was ever able to focus a shot without a mirrorless camera.

The size is larger than the current M5/M50 by 1/2 inch in width and also other measurements.

Sad how Canon users have to make so many sacrifices to stay that brand. Learn color processing and don't get stuck. Best thing I've done is escape the Canon trap.
