it's hasn't been long since korea became a developed country, the country was still poor and hungry in the 50s. The average height has been increasing due to improved living conditions, which shows that environment plays a significant part and not just chalked up to genetics.

Guy in pink shirt is not 6ft, if the guy next to him is 5’4.

Though people have body preference, ones first priority should be good human being because thats what makes strong foundation of any relationship.

The majority are on the shorter side, but there are ton of taller people, especially these days. I'm a middle aged Korean American dude who is 180cm and the younger guys these days are way taller than I am.

4:30 "It'd be like 2 pencil stubs walking around together" LOOL I'd heard the term pencil stub before and boy did it catch off guard. I laughed for a minute straight.

"If they're around my height, I don't really see them as a man." Crazy how women can just throw out blanket statements like this criticizing an immutable characteristic... Imagine if a guy made the same statement about a woman's weight despite her being able to fully control it. And the funny thing is, it's almost always very petite women who will impose these standards. Heightism is one of the most socially accepted forms of overt discrimination that goes unchecked, which is mind-blowing because it's essentially genetic prejudice. We collectively frown upon racism as a society, but disparaging someone for being vertically challenged is okay when—just like race—it's completely out of their control?

"I don't think it's the food because I ate well when I was little, too." Nutrition does play a role, but genetics are the most important factor (i.e., tall parents tend to have tall kids and vice versa).

Growth hormones only work before a person's growth plates are fused. You can inject an adult with as much HGH as you want, but it won't result in any changes to their stature post-puberty. And it's something that requires a doctor's prescription. They are typically only used with children who have a hormonal imbalance.

Leg-lengthening surgery is _never_ worth it. The patient is guaranteed to suffer from a lifetime of pain and mobility issues. Unless you think gaining 4" in height is worth spending every waking hour miserable, don't do it.

I wanna be friends with the dudes at 1:10. You can tell they’re about to go build a jet pack or video game just for fun.

One of the last questions should have been the importance of height versus money. I guarantee a lot of these people would choose a short guy or be a short guy that has money. Korea is definitely a society that places incredibly high societal value on wealth.

Koreans are about 4cm taller than Mongolians. I checked on Mongolians specifically due to historically very high meat diets in Mongolia vs Korea as they say Koreans seem to be getting taller and many East Asian surveys leave Mongols off the list.

Height matters, and not just for dating. I don't know how it is in Korea, but in America. Taller people, on average, make more money for doing the same job.

In Korea, even if you have an ugly face, you can be popular if you are tall. In Japan, face is overwhelmingly more important than height. In that respect, Japanese and Koreans think differently.
