Hard work and consistency, however you probably won’t be a pro.

If you have two arms and two legs, and a brain, you are naturally gifted.

Non professional athletes are so far from their genetic ceilings - most of it is about time training - most of us dont have the time to put in enough work! Thats the ceiling

Some people will always be faster than you. There are people with Vo2 Maxes between 80-95. If your Vo2 max is 90, you'll be faster than 99% of people on 2 hours of weekly volume.

But as a regular person (Vo2 max of about 60), I am still far from my potential genetic ceiling (despite training 10-15 hours a week, as a cyclist)

Testostorone also affects how explosive and fast you are

Think about the fastest kid you knew in school when you were 7/8 years old and how much faster they were than you. That's genetics! In our 1 mile race in school at age 10, 1 kid was a full 400m lap ahead of the next finisher.

Got into running at the beggining of this year. Was doing 5k a day. Then I took a hiatus for some reason and legit just got back into it the 4th. Back at square one distance wise, have been doing 1 mile as a base and then if I can I’ll go a bit further but what I find really nice is that despite me taking a 3-4 month break, my mile time didn’t get worse and somehow improved by 15-30s

Honestly I think that the sports you do as a kid probably matter the most.

I bet there’s some people who want a athletic scholarship and some people wont but dont worry that’s required to be a popular athlete

it's not hard to tell if we dont have the genetic. everything just 10x harder for you compared to everyone else. but that also means you are tougher, despite being weaker.

Yeah my genetics suck. I'm short and stocky, not really built for speed.

Just saying but I have genetics from my mum and my dad, my dad is a sprinter and my mum is a long distance runner so like does that make me both?

Im naturallly really fast at 100m but dont train? Does trainint improve speed or distance since im thinking.of improving my speed at sprint.
