Rural Crime Coordinator, Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside, said the location was “symbolic” as NSW Police and UNE have worked together extensively across many years and projects.

“The UNE is really aiding us taking the blinkers off what we do on a day-to-day basis in terms of addressing rural crime and coming up with different strategies.”

Here, UNE Centre for Rural Criminology co-director Kyle Mulrooney talks about the importance of combating the “quintessential rural crime”, and provides an update on the centre’s NSW Farm Crime Survey; and UNE VC and CEO Brigid Heywood talks of the importance of a regional university in being part of, and facilitating, partnerships.
