Coyote is Jesse from Breaking Bad. He’s gone back to a life of crime and his backpack is filled with blue crystal meth. He’s making deals at various stops along the AT. Badger and Sneaky Pete routinely meet him at resupply points. He’s trying to shake Stella loose but she’s too fast. He’s chosen the solitary life and knows that anybody who gets too close to him can become a target for the Cartel. So tragic.

I don't know what they're called elsewhere, but those little semi-boardwalk type of split-log 'bridges' are called puncheon, here in the tri-state area. Be well, stay safe.
