I had one of these as a kid in the 80‘s, it was my first „pro-grade“ rc-car. I loved it. the way it looks, the wheels, the chassis..
i thought i could re-buy one today, but they are very rare and expensive.
A re-release would be an insta-buy for me.

Awesome video mate, just subscribed.

You should be able to run a lipo on any brushed esc but the problem is the voltage cutoff. I don't think that model supports it. so it will discharge the lipo battery under voltage which lipos don't like and potentially killing the battery.

edit
I've just looked at the manual and it does have a built in "low voltage operation" but it doesn't specify what it is.

Did you do a scan of the decal sheet of the new in box one ?
Or are there decals available from bluegroove or similar ?
Could certainly use another pinion for more wheelspeed.
Also oil shocks is a must, along with ball bearings.

Great to see! Nice vid, l remember it being tricky to get good speed from these but some of that is down to the pinion l think? Not sure though it's been a long time but I am a fan of these they are really robust and fun to drive! and l don't know why but l am finding these funky themes so cool right now! I have recently got myself a Blitzer beetle and that is similar! Retro popping right into your face!!! Great stuff again 👍

My First RC .. loved it .. upgraded the motor to a mega motor . It went so well but the extra power ended up melting the gearbox bearings and it became a donor car for my other stuff .
Those were the days . I was constantly stripping and building this thing .. 😎

320 amp speed control will handle 2s watch out though you'll snap your original axles got to put some metal in the gear instead of plastic plastic axles don't work that's what I did with mine I have the 109 raider

Are you running a 2s on it and see if you can run a 3s through it.

Mid motor design is pretty modern for todays standards.

Kyosho should re-release it with the Vintage stuff.

I think you should put a little more beefy motor in it.

4:37, That was nearly on the dime.. I just found one of these in my attic, it was my uncles and its never touched the ground. That said there is no control that I can find up in the attic. I'm looking and modern controllers are EXPENSIVE + the box says it never came with one SO. Is there anyway I can get a "basic bitch" controller lol, I really really want to drive this thing after watching this video. It handles excellent for a 32 year old Kyosho ARR . Even the box I have is in really good shape considering the way it was stored. Tell me something good? The older one is nice, The Futaba Attack-Sport.

Nice saw mill run. Get that motor in and some oil filled shocks and you can race my outrage or scorpion.

My little brothers 1st rc car, I remember that the original kyosho motor was hotter than the 540. Also the kit came with a smaller transmission gear that really made it fast.

They should also re-released the turbo Raider.
