Katy Perry accused of bullying ‘American Idol’ contestant: ‘Not gonna go far’ | New York Post

“American Idol” fans are scrutinizing Katy Perry, 38, for how she treated contestant Sara Beth Liebe, a happy-go-lucky 25-year-old mother of three, on Sunday’s episode of the singing competition singing.

The red-headed, quirky California native openly admitted that she’s not much of a musician except in her church choir and on karaoke nights.

Perry, who made an off-color remark about being such a young three-time mom, loudly interjected, “Is this your dream?”

“Um,” the seemingly already nervous Liebe muttered.

“If it’s not your dream, you might need to leave because there’s a lot of dreams behind you,” Perry said.

I read a post that described what happened and thought people were being outrageous for giving KP a bunch of hate. Until I saw this video and realized the woman hadn't even sang yet and heard the tone of KP's voice and the "she's been laying on the table too much" comment

Sara Beth did a great job answering all of the questions (despite some being rude) and she is FULL of positive energy. It's very uplifting when a performer has the ability to share their light with the audience. She almost blinded me!

Perry's comment is something I would say to a very close friend and NOT to a total stranger. Perry should be replaced!!! I'm sure there are more qualified professional singers who can take her place. But for Katy to basically dismiss a contestant because she's a mother of three was some amateur line-stepping. I'm glad she recognized her talent. But same as shamed the existence of her kids.

First of all the comments (Katy's comment) about her having 3 kids is reprehensible, but her comments about Sarah Beth's voice and reason for being there were way off. Sarah Beth did a great job on both songs. I'm also disappointed in Lionel's attitude towards her. I even re-watched her audition and I just didn't see what she did wrong 🤷.

What about Lionel Richie? He seemed to be influenced by Katy, and went along with what he thought Katy was thinking. The two were out of line. She’s a young mother, so yeah, she could be conflicted on her dream, but she wouldn’t have been there if it wasn’t something she desired. Katy, shame on you. Lionel, think independently.
