This is where I grew up, many decades ago. Gentrification is very apparent, and while I am cognizant of the plight of the poor I am pleased to see that what were formerly slums are now decent housing particularly on 4th st. Between ave C and B. I do also have the perspective of remembering before they were slums and what they became and now back again. I remember as a child walking to church at St. Brigid’s and then afterward stopping at the bakery on ave C, now that may be possible again.
