Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs iPhone 15 Pro Max: Camera Comparison

We took a few pictures with the Galaxy S24 Ultra during our hands-on session, and some quick comparison shots with the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Here are our initial impressions. Of course, this is all pre-release — who knows, maybe Samsung will drop a day 1 patch, which will improve the camera further. However, this early test already shows us a camera that has clearly evolved over the S23 series, and the improvements are visible!

I hope they can send out a camera fix for the S24 before I receive mine. I'm not really thrilled that most photo sample comparison vids I've seen the S24 photos have this haziness to them. the color saturation is very muted on them as well. I can live with the muted colors but that hazy/ foggy look to the photos is a deal breaker for me.

I realise the S24 Ultra will undoubtedly have some tweaks applied in the coming weeks, but I really like the less aggressive sharpening in these samples. Images look much more natural and closer to the results that can be achieved with a half decent mirrorless.

Without disparaging this man's work, I recommend that you watch the video without audio and draw your own conclusions because in some situations what I was seeing had nothing to do with what I was hearing.

S24 ultra doing amazing on these comparisons but they said don't even bother making comparisons because samsung will have an update for the s24 line up on release date. Can't wait to get my s24 ultra next week!

Samsung is pushing a major camera update on 24th before the public launch. However, they should have done it before sending it to reviewers

You should have taken a very complex picture like Trade Test Card with integrated symbols, shades and colour to see which one was cleanest.
To be honest, the differences are so small that there isn't much in it. I am a Samsung man but for now will stick to Note 20+ Ultra as it has colossal memory 512Gb and 512Gb SD card slot is my trump card. Shame Samsung removed the SD card. OK you can get the 1Tb model as a double memory upgrade but why spend £1, 400. My old £500 phone does me proud!

Why aren't there are photos of people in motion?

That's 90% of what people take pictures of, other people or pets.

It's easy to take a picture of a couch, not that easy of a moving toddler or French bulldog.

This is what ive been saying. There should be measures in place to prevent youtubers from slating the camera while its still on pre release software, just because they want to defend the fucking iphone

Before comparing these devices please buy a good quality of mic 🎙️ to record your videos, because voice quality is not up to the mark in your videos

10x and above, the S23 was clearly better than those 2 other phones! You could clearly read texts and see more details at higher zoom levels.

I would really want to see comparison video with Xperia 1 V. I think Xperia is less aggressive with processing which is on plus.

Samsung as always amazing hardware but over processed artificial photos that look like a mess. Looks like a painting but worse. Sharpness +100, clarity +100, shadows +100, saturation +50, that’s Samsung processing for you 😭 What a shame.

I wonder how much of the Samsung's overly bright, low contrast and hazy photos comes down to pre-release software. I keep hearing that the final release software will improve camera quality, but by how much? Definitely considering a cancellation of my pre-order at this point.
