Why Did No One Tell Me This Sooner?! Electricians Hack

Here’s a simple but effective top tip for securing isolation on a three-phase neutral switch! 🔧 When locking off, position your device over the neutral instead of the centr. This keeps L1, L2, and L3 accessible for an external Earth fault loop impedance test, saving time and frustration. Many electricians make the mistake of blocking access—don’t be one of them! Try this hack and make testing so much easier!

Doesn't the locking device have that big hole that leads right down the the screws for easy access during testing?

Little tips like these are what make my day

Some Circuit breakers are designed with their fault vent to discharge onto the load side away from the incoming live mains to prevent a flashover. But in practice the mains is often connected to the load side to suit the layout of the cable installation.

"Schneider" very good fuse brand, very good 🤣🤣🤣

I like how the voltage sense wires for the Shelly meter were properly fused 👍🏻

I actually have something like this in my work bag (I work in a datacentre). But its much longer, no wider by much long, Fits much the same way as you show here but because its longer, its recessed on both sides and has a hole in the centre so much so that it don't matter how you place it on breakers like this, you can access all of the conductor's all of the time.

I cant for the life of me remember where i got it from, that tells me i took it from work, so i'm willing to bet it came from APC, Emerson Power or Schnider.

If the installation is already live at the start of the assessment then I would do ZE, PFC, supply polarity and phase rotation before safe isolation

Who locks out right there except this guy?

Please do another vid with a neutral connection block fitted and a 3 pole switch.

In the AM2, do they ask for the L to N PSCC to be done with the main switch locked off.

I don’t know as haven’t ever completed it.

Most people aren't affected by this, because they don't put the lock on in the first place. Don't get me wrong, they should, but hey don't.

Oh yeah, perfect solution ... thanks from spain 😊

What about when you are doing your Neutral Integrity Test?

Except that the live side you're after is on the top so lock position doesn't matter

“Fantastic opportunity” when you are one word away from hitting the number count. 😂

Surley when you do your pfc you will also need access to the Nutral

Would really love you guys to come and do some videos here in Spain of some installations!!

You would have at least a daily video for a year of how cowboy it all is!!

Isn't it custom to have neutral on the right side, same as with the breakers?

Would you have to take the lock off tool off to get the board lid off? Locking off but leaving live terminals open seems pointless to me.

You tested load, not line side. You said line conductors.

Earth fault loop impedance? Does that require the live wires?
