Trans Siberian Railway Highlight: Stunning Lake Baikal!

Показать описание

Lake Baikal, Russia's famous landmark and one of the best stops on the Trans Siberian railway. It is the deepest AND oldest lake in the world and the heart of Siberia!

It is larger than our home country, Belgium, and it holds more than 20% of the world's fresh water. After our 56 hour train ride on the Transsiberian railway from Yekaterinburg to Irkutsk, we took a short bus ride to get to Listvyanka, one of the lakeshore towns.

In Listvyanka we organized a speed boat tour to see some of the beauty Lake Baikal has to offer, which took us to places that are not reachable by car. The beauty of the nature here is just stunning and it is super tranquil!

If you travel to Russia, be sure to visit Baikal lake, Russia's pearl.

Lake Baikal was really stunning. AND, I would go back for the food alone. Those potato pancakes with cheese... And the fluffy apple pastries <3
I bet it will be really beautiful in wintertime as well! Highly recommend this stop when you travel Russia on the transsiberian railway. We were also surprised to learn that Lake Baikal is bigger than our home country. Siberia is so big!

What a nice little detour day trip. Loved the abandoned railway tracks and train. Beautiful lake side village. Must have been a nice break from the train.
Best, James and Kim

I'll never forget those pastries, haha. But Lake Baikal was the ultimate stop on the Trans-Siberian railway for us, so make sure to go there if you ever head to Siberia!

Oh, it’s bad you didn’t go to the most beautiful place of baikal: olkhon island, but listvyanka is good too, not far away from Irkutsk, but just very little part of baikal:)

Hi Kim and Naick! I enjoy watcing your videos and find you both nice and lovely people. :) I have only one small objection - sometimes it is hard to hear what you are saying because music is too loud... Keep up the good work!

Hi guys!! Nice video!... my husband and I are preparing our trip to Russia next month, and of course the lake is one of our stops in the train. I have a question for you... the 5 hours tour, did you get it directly there? Do you have the name of the company? Cos I think I like to do it!! Can you give me more information? Please? :).
Thanks!!!

0:30 - bears are dangerous at winter time, cause they must be slipping and if not - they are very hungry and mad.
Summer time they usually eat berries, grass, mice...honey of course

by the way i have not been there despite i am russian

you would not believe but i met plenty of people from UK who never been in London

Siberia is one of the wildest and most inaccessible and remote regions of the planet. In winter, living there is very difficult. I hope someday new technologies and money will come there to make this region more accessible. Tourists and such videos make a small contribution to this.
