I'm Ethiopian, from Tigray, and grew up with a lot of different music from all countries in Africa, but nothing can be compared to Mali and Senegalese music. What a beautiful melody it is

I'm glad I didn't live my life without encountering this instrument. I"m 74, so I almost missed it!

Normalement la musique malienne devrait être classée au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO en tant que patrimoine immatériel. Les rythmes et les sonorités te reconnectent avec le toi-même. Depuis le Cameroun Vive le Maliba.

We listened to this performance in a college music class and I found myself unable to think about anything else for the rest of the day. I just had to come back to hear it again. What a beautiful performance by two incredibly gifted players, showcasing such a unique and melodic instrument! I can see why this was considered appropriate music to be played for kings historically - it certainly makes me feel transported back in time!

I had the immense privilege to see Toumani play live...there was such an aura of peace and tranquillity around him...no ego...no playing up to the camera...just the quiet confidence of a master musician. Merci Toumani..

I’m a French Metalhead who decided a long time ago that if you love music and take it as a way to communicate with the world, you have to embrace the whole Music forms, rythms, instrument, languages, dances…everything. Let it go and vibrate in your body and soul and share it to the world. Music is an universal language! Now we have the possibility to listen to music from all around the globe and pass it on to our children. This piece of Malian legacy is one of the lot of music I encourage my daughter to listen to, and feel it. I’m proud of that!
