2021 Mazda 3 Turbo – MPG Test | Real-world Highway Range

The 2021 Mazda 3 now comes with an optional turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four engine, but you can only get it with all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission. With this extra weight, as well as Bridgestone Bizzak winter tires, the 3 Turbo has the cards stacked against it for highway fuel economy. But yet, it broke 30 mpg!

I have one, and it is super quiet on the freeway with stock tires, and hte interior is amazing.

Great vid, but i really wanted to see the effect regular gas has on the MPG. My dad has this car, and it runs fine on regular but his fuel economy averages 24mpg in mostly highway driving. He has never broken 30mpg on any drive.

Good to know it is on winter tires. BTW I can't hear the term 'hot hatch' without shedding a tear about the sad and sorry fact Toyota thinks we are undeserving of the GR Yaris.

I guess in the summer with all season tires we can expect a 10% improvement which would translate to 34mpg. That's pretty good I would say.

Great review. I need to get my hands on that sweet road-trip music you used though. :)

This is my car almost exactly, 2021 turbo hatch, red interior but machine gray. This past winter I got 33.4 mpg using the same formula on a 156 mile round trip. Of course when I say "winter" I mean winter in Texas which usually means sunny and about 65f😂. Also I'm obviously not running winter tires, and that trip was on month old Pirelli P zero AS 4 tires and at least 3/4 tank premium, rest was 87 octane. I've found there isn't much detectable (butt Dyno) difference in power, but I do get slightly better gas mileage running premium so it balances out if the price difference isn't too great.

Nice Review-I like this would consider it, but have a bad it having such LOW ground clearance~ I see that as a problem.
But I did go see it months ago at a local dealership & it’s VERY NICE👍🏼.

I have a 2022 Santa Cruz Limited and I put Falken winter tires on and my mpg dropped by around 5 mpg.

I'm sure that the only negative with the cruise control is you taking off your seat belt at 72 mph to take your jacket off while driving 72 mph, that is the negative.

I traded in my original Mazda 6 with a SKYACTIV 2.5 for a 2018 Turbo that was marked down on the lot in 2019. The fuel economy difference is negligible for the power difference, it's by far my favorite motor I have ever owned.

Mine get some garbage gas mileage. In the city and on the interstate and I don't even do spirited driving. I keep 93 octane in it. Idk if there's a breaking period on this engine. But I hope it get better

First thing that popped into my mind when you were putting gas is ELECTRONICS in GAS STATION then I remembered that your action cam is probably air tight (waterproof) and is no relative danger :DD
