My thoughts on the Behringer Wave (talking)

The new $600 Behringer Wave just released and it is turning heads in the synth community. My thoughts and comparing it to the more expensive but fully featured 3rd Wave.

0:00 - why I made this video
1:13 - what is the PPG sound and does the Behringer do it?
3:52 - can the Behringer wave do Binaural sounds?
6:15 - Behringer Wave vs. 3rd Wave
9:59 - the one thing you will 100% need to add to the Behringer
12:09 - let me know your thoughts in the comments

Great video. The decision is easy for me...
the 3rd Wave costs more than I paid for my current car, so I will be getting the Behringer Wave instead. 😅

I thought you would be showing the Behringer. 😒

Thanks for putting this video together.
This whole Wave craze makes me think that I shouldn't have sold my PPG back in the days.
Now, your 3rd Wave sounds sound solid, full and lush to me, which isn't a feel I got from the Behringer demo. Now, until I can hear both in the same listening environnement (which is unlikely to happen), I wouldn't make any final judgement.

Thumbs down on your video for commenting about a synth you don't even own. Secondly, comparting a $5K synth to a $600 synth is a joke. Unsubscribed.

The B wave sounds bloody amazing for the money. Always wanted a 3 wave, but far too expensive.

I’m tempted by the very low price of the Behringer Wave but I feel like my Iridium can likely create any digital sound I need.

The Behringer has two oscillators per voice, 8 voices, 8 independent outs which seems to indicate it can be 8-part Multi-timbral - I looked at the Behringer manual and it has a lot of keyboard modes and it also goes beyond the original PPG with wave smoothing and anti-aliasing, user wave tables and transients but no samples - it seems a really good value for the money.. The 3rd wave is 3 oscillators per voice, 24 voices and 4-part multi-timbral which is a lot more.

After getting my Waldorf M, and their Microwave software, I'm pretty much happy with wavetable action.

I usually like your videos, but this one is pointless.
What's the point of making a video expressing your thoughts on a synthesizer you don't own and only watched a couple of videos of?
I think you should get one and then give your opinion, until then it's just guesswork without the importance needed to make a video

I thought the OB6 was your favourite synth.

After studying the Groove 3rd Wave over the last 2 years and hearing the Wave my take is that the 3rd Wave is waaay beyond the basic PPG sound.

I have to stop watching these, as they make my wallet cry. I got a TEO-5 and now I want a 3rd Wave or Behringer Wave.

Hi & tks for the video re: Behringer Wave synth. Fyi, I'm about to pre-order from L&M. I was wondering if you might consider creating patches for the B Wave?

So far I'm pretty impressed by the crisp behringer wave sound when "Enhanced Mode" is off what makes the true original sound. That were also the main argument. A comparison by Starscy Carr with a 3rd wave desktop with an old wavev 2 (comma something) didn't show a 100% unity to my ears. The old wave sounded a little brighter. Since I already have a (still) highly sophisticated microwave XT with 30 voice expansion, that is sonically largely indistinguishable from the hybrid Waldorf M (again Starscy Carr's comparison), the behringer wave would definitely be an option for me. According to the specs, user wavetables are possible. I assume the behringer app would manage the conversion & I'd be happy if you make a comparison video. Maybe you'll like the sound that much to even keep it.

Should be titled “My thoughts on the 3rd wave”

How useful Summit's WTs? I really like for soundsscape sort of stuff, slowly evolving. But when i compare it with my original microwave rev a Summit's WTs are little poor in terms of motion.

The 3rd Wave is amazing, but that price tag is crazy for most in this economy. I've been begging Groove Synthesis to do a scaled down model for years- do one that is only bi-timbral, 8-16 voices, which would require less analog filter chips, and do a more basic 49 key design.

Excellent video! Very fair and informative. I’ll save up for the 3rd Wave (probably 4th Wave by then haha)
