Flash storage IS expensive. The speed is great but when you get to the highly relevant space to cost ratio, solid state is horrendously expensive. For 100 bucks you still can't get a solid state drive nearly as large as a hard disk drive of equal cost. Not even close.

Good point about needing electricity. Hard drives run GREAT when the power goes off, so that is a huge show-stopper for flash.
