Sharper Image in the US is where I bought my first Tapio for about 60 bucks. My second is a Tapio Hackman which had no sheath for 175.00 on ebay. Ebay has them for 250 up to 475 US . The handle is like a squared off oval, rather comfortable to me, I have medium sized hands . If you look at the blade point on, you will see a diamond configuration with the bottom of the diamond making up most of the blade . The sides of the diamond make for a strong blade . This design is found in most older Finnish puukko's . A good example of this is the blade design for the 1969-72 Normark hunter by Fiskars . I have a number of these knives as well, which are and were overlooked by many . Most of my purchases were from Minnesota which has a high Finnish and Scandinavian population of hunters and fishermen ! Grizz 🐻

Best of both worlds: a collectable but one you can use bc it’s not pristine. Thanks Tim!

I just found this video and I like the presentation. I ordered one of these knives out of a catalog in 1975 or 1976. I was so impressed with it when I got it that I ordered a second one. Absolutely wonderful knives. Shortly after I got them, they ended up in a lock box that I had and in time I lost the key. Fast forward to 2012, I found the key and unlocked the box. I now have a pair of knives in perfect condition with the sheaths. I never even had the need to take them to a sharpening stone. They have the original edge to them.

Beautiful knife! Battle scars show it was loved and used!
I sometimes wonder if my favorite knives will still be appreciated in 50+ years.

I have the same knife, but in a little better condition. The sheath was beaten up pretty badly so I bought a replacement the same place you purchased yours. I have XL glove sized hands and find this knife extremely comfortable to use. Good video, thank you for featuring this very fine knife.

We had one growing up that looked a lot like that. It was a really cool knife, but of course is now lost in the mists of time....

My uncle in Norway has one of these, with the original sheath, that used to be his scouts knife. He was quite surprised when I told him how valuable it is.

Looks like a Rhomboid (Rhombic) grind. I have a YP Taonta knife with this type of grind and it is an amazing slicer. I also have the cold steel version of this knife and I love it, however I did put a convex edge on it and its a much better slicer now.
