There's a lot of talk these days about the buy and hold investment strategy. But is it really as great as people say? In this video, I take a look at the buy and hold strategy and show why it doesn't always work.

When you retire you don't cash in all your chips at once. You sell one per cent each quarter for the next twenty five years. That way you keep most of your money growing and ride out the crashes. Keep some cash available at all times (up to two years of expenses) so you don't have to sell at the bottom. Simples.

When I watch an investment video, I always look for that which contradicts what I know to be true. I never find that it yours, which is why I love them. This one has the truth covered right in the headline. As my father said "You are never married to a stock." Based on his track record, I knew his advice to be sound.

Interesting title for a video. Even though in the video you say buying and holding works as long as that’s what you’re actually doing. Index funds for life!!!
