Garmin Epix 2 Review: Is this the best Garmin running watch?

The Garmin Epix 2 has been officially unveiled and arrives looking a lot like a Fenix with an AMOLED screen.

The new Epix matches the Fenix in a lot of departments including offering big running features, mapping, the promise of improved outdoor tracking accuracy and it's still offering strong battery life despite the addition of a colour screen.

Run Testers Mike, Kieran and Nick have been testing out both the Garmin Epix and the new Garmin Fenix 7X and in this video they give their verdict on the Epix.

Corrections: Due to an error on the spec sheet we list the Epix screen resolution as 454x454 when it is actually 416x416. Also Nick mentions you can't tap the widgets on the home screen to get to the detail widget, but if you hold the home screen widget you do get taken through for more detail.

This review convinced me to get the Epix 2 over the fenix 7x. I hadn't even considered the Epix before this, but that screen is too sexy.

Thanks for the in depth (and early) review! Coming from a Fenix 5+ Titanium DLC I was very much in doubt between the Fenix and the Epix. This review was the final push to order the Epix 2 (Titanium / White) from the Garmin website.

Hi Guys. I love your channel. Your reviews are excellent and enjoyable to watch. I have just upgraded from a Garmin Fenix 6s to the Epix Gen 2. Loving it!

HOPEFULLY mine arrives in a couple of days. CANNOT wait to see the screen and put the watch to work.
I'm downsizing from my current 6XPro Solar and looking forward to seeing what the difference in screen size is like.
I've only had the 51mm Fenix's so hope I'm not disappointed.
Good video boys.

Thanks for the great reviews on the Fenix 7 / Epix 2 / Apple Watch 7. I'm a cyclist, not a runner, so I think with my Garmin Edge on the drop bars the Epix 2 will be more than I ever need. There is this one question left that I have to make my decision final; how much time does it take to fully charge the Epix 2. And is there some type of fast charging available like 30 minutes of charging gives you an other 8 hours of battery. That would make the Epix 2 come even closer to being the perfect watch. Thanks again!

I’m loving all the content you guys have had this week. Did I hear a 955 in Amoled prediction there? Value is always subjective. But, Garmin is inching towards the prices you pay for a high quality quartz or medium mechanical watch. Those are not trackers, granted. But, you could keep using something like the G-Shock Mudmaster GWG2000 fifteen years from now while you would have long since tossed away the Epix 2.

Gents - quick note that from your watchface you can press and hold a data-piece and it will take you to that widget. You mentioned that you tap it and nothing happens..!

Im 99% sure I will never utilize the Epix 2 in the way it deserves, but damn will it be nice to have for my exercise and outdoor life over the next several years.

During ultras I'm usually using turn-by-turn navigation. When you discuss using maps with regards to battery life (e.g. multi-band + always-on = 15hrs), are you also using turn-by-turn navigation? Something else to keep in mind is that battery life will deteriorate with age, so in twelve months time maybe the Epix will no longer last the ultra distance.

now we just wait for the amoled screen to trickle down the price range while keeping battery life and most features and we’ll be happy

Really can’t decide between the Epix or Enduro… 😱 I’ll be upgrading from my Fenix 5XPlus. Any advice?

Being disappointed that the watch needs charged every 7-8 days shows how spoiled we are.

Hi, thank you for your excellent review. Could you tell me the name of the blue strap you have on the Watch in the video?
