SUPERB! Peter Cushing always convincingly became the character he was playing with every word he spoke and every action he made no matter how small, as demonstrated in this brilliant drama. The drama is similar in intensity to
An Inspector Calls.

This movie is amazing. I've seen it a couple times, years ago. Peter Cushing and Andre Morrell's acting are both top notch. Again, more people need to see this!

Good print quality, and a fine, taut little thriller. Not to mention an unflinching portrayal of a sociopath. Glad I stumbled on this one!

My first boss was exactly like him .. He once interviewed a lad for a job, he was all false smiles & friendly . The moment the lad left he told the foreman to throw his application in the bin ! .

For once, YT suggested something good to watch as I was scrolling through contents via my TV, and put this film up on the 'recommended' list a few days ago. I love Peter Cushing, but was unaware he had made this film. He's brilliant in the roll, as is Andre Morell (probably best known for The Quatermass TV series, Clouded Yellow and Bridge on the River Kwai). Good to see Norman Bird in a minor role, too, as he was in another bank heist film only the year before, in a bigger role: The League of Gentlemen (one of my all time favourite films). I found this film very tense, and cleverly plotted. Quietly brilliant.

Thanks for this. I'd never seen it. I love Hammer films. Great cast.

I remember watching this movie some years ago. It was just as good watching it this time too. Well done!

This is certainly a way above average B movie and was chosen by film historians as one of the fifteen most meritorious B British films made between 1945 and 1970. It opened to enthusiastic and complimentary reviews. Peter Cushing (1913 - 1994) who went on to establish a strong reputation in 22 Hammer horror films - six times as Baron Frankenstein and five times as Dr Van Helsing. He also appeared several times as Sherlock Holmes. Cushing considered this film to be one of his favourites among the more than one hundred he appeared in beginning with The Man in the Iron Mask (1939) and finally The Masks of Death (1984).

Great movie ... Peter Cushing and entire cast brilliant. Andre Morrell perfection. Didnt want it to end. Nobody does it like the Brits!😢

I half-expected the 'police' + Gore-Hepburn + money to go out the door - and then the real police to arrive a few minutes later :) Great little film, a gem that I've never seen before. Jolly decent of Gore-Hepburn to admit to the tape recorder trick to save Fordyce's reputation and career.

Oh man, I had a tutor at St. Anne's who used to do the same stare and eyebrow thing when you said something wrong, which, for me, invariably ended in digging a deeper hole. I was scared to death of him!

Cant believe I, ve never came across this film before
Peter Cushing, one of my favourite actors growing up in the 70s, mainly because he killed Vampires, 😂 nice to see him in a different type of film, Andre Morrel ive just watched him in Camp on Blood Island, and really enjoyed this film too so looking forward to finding other films with him in ..

What a superb thriller. Great British actors. The tension between Peter Cushing and Andre Morell was practically excruciating!
The British were making so many wonderful films and TV shows, from the ‘50s thru to the ‘70s. This film, 1961, reminds me of many film genres my parents introduced me and my siblings to from the British. In fact by 1962, my parents made plans for us to be enrolled in schools in England, Dover, Folkestone, Kent, for a “better education” and better stage, theater actors.
New York City was home base, but we went to school, had a TV, which my father wouldn’t permit in the States, (He didn’t like the tv shows children were exposed to from American television), and amateur and professional stage shows and many concerts in those twins as well as in London.
My father was a contracted TV actor for CBS. He had very strong opinions about the quality of entertainment, show biz, and the British and European examples for us to “cut our teeth on”. I m very grateful to my parents for the years we went to school from 1963 - 1968”, and learned about the Arts in England, mostly, but also European Arts, too. Yes, I was definitely impressed with the times of “Swinging England”! All the music, pop culture, tv shows, which so many American sitcoms and dramas copied from the British, which did well in the States, but not like the strength of the performing Arts of the British, as far as my young mind thought. All the wonderful actors of the British film, tv and radio, I followed for years and still do. Marvelous times for learning.
👍🥰💗💗

Excellent suspense drama with minimal set. Great chilling performance by André Morell countered by the nondescript Peter Cushing character. Super performance also by Richard Vernon. Bravo!
