We want comfort and utility. Hardly any of us are trying to race

Just enjoyed this video so much, it's almost 3a.m. and now I want to go ride my bike. The glass of wine is keeping me indoors for now.

I'm a heavy bloke and a gravel bike is the best option for me, especially for the daily commute to work, which isn't all smooth sealed roads

Enjoying a Canyon Grizl myse lf. Most people wont hear what you said about a cyclocross bike being intended for no more than 1 hour events where power output is continuously fluctuating from zero to max. A CX bike can be used for Gravel, but it is not the best tool for that purpose as I found out after riding the Grizl. I ordered the least expensive carbon model with grx400, which works fine for my rougher trail riding purposes. Even in its cheapest version, the gravel intended ergonomics of grx will prove to be superior to the old ultegra initially used in earlier gravel bikes. The Grizl can handle rougher terrain with much more aplomb, smoothness, control than the cx bike I had been using for more than a year, a Niner BSB. In part due to the 5mm wider tires on the grizl, but also the frame must play a big part and grx controls.

For me, you can’t go passed a well designed steel frame for suspension. Ritchey Outback comes to mind. Suspension built into the frame. Tasty selection though, Dave. Out of the lot we just saw I’d lean towards the Giant revolt.

I was lucky to find a 2020 Revolt e+ pro in June '21. Fit 52 mm SK tires on it. 1x GRX.

I have ventured so much further and more often than I would have ridden before, which is a great result!

Reducing the assist from stock means I can now get 100km of range - if I wanted to go that far!!

I ride a 2020 Giant Defy and I have 2 wheel sets. The stock aluminum PR2’s now have Panaracer Gravelking SK 35mm tires and decent clearance for gravel, and another set of Enve Foundation 45s with DT Swiss 240EXP hubs skinned in Schwalbe Pro One 30mm for road. All tubeless. Seems like Giant beat Wilier to the dual-purpose bike market in my opinion.

Hay Arthur. I bought a Cube Nuroad c62 race last year and its amazing. Alot of youtubers seem to forget the Cube bikes all the time. But it really is amazing quality for an awesome price!

Per the crux… I use a Trek Crockett as a flat bar urban bomber although it’s been designed as a cx bike. I feel like specialized knows the gravel scene dwarfs the cross scene. I’m constantly amazed at how perfect the Crockett is in a city setting. Great channel, keep up the awesome work!

Any suggestions for an all road machine like the Wilier SLR which doesn't cost quite as much?!! Cheers

The Rose Backroad looks the most versatile to me!

Ciao David from Verona, Italia. First of all excuse me for my english. I want to ask you about the SCOTT ADDICT GRAVEL. What do you think about the Sram Force axs??? I would like to buy that gravel bike but i'm very worry about the Sram F. In many review i read is a difficult "system" (excuse, i don't know the translation); is difficult to set this system, very delicate and many times you have to resolve "strange scratch sounds" or many problems with the chain that inexplicably sometimes falls...I hope you can understand what i mean and help me, thank you for your reply,

I put inner bar ends, a rigid fork, and less aggressive tires on an old mountain bike. Not as fast and fancy as a modern gravel bike but a hell of a lot cheaper.

Thompson has the same idea as Willier, a road and gravel compatible bike, it's very nice, that's f flexibility, comfort and joy!

Surprised the new Orbea Terra didn't make the list. I know it was launched last month, but they're not actually dropping until 2022 so they're still directly up against the ones in this video.
The Basso Palta also seems to be new - although I found it interesting they have a version with suspension fork, but only I think on the aluminium frame, not matched with carbon?

Hello David, thank you for great video as always! I know there is plethora of options to choose from, but one bike, which wouldn't feel awkward on your list, is Basso Palta (redesigned for 2022). Check it out! It's gorgeous bike and competitor to Scott Addict Gravel.
